NYCDOT will be presenting a refined safety proposal for the intersection of Atlantic/Washington/Underhill avenues at a joint Community Board 2 and 8 Transportation Committee meeting on Tuesday, December 16th.

DOT previously proposed improvements to the intersection in 2011, but implementation was delayed due to water main construction at the location. A representative from DOT said that the agency's intention now is to complete construction of the Washington Avenue improvements in the spring of 2015.

Brooklyn Borough President Eric L. Adams invites the community to "The City Speaks: Bringing Residents and Agencies Together," an opportunity to meeting the representatives of government agencies and learn aobut their polcies and guidelines on the services that they provide.

This session features the New York City Department of Transportation, with discuss street light outages, speed bump requests, installation of stop signs and traffic lights, sidewalk issues, and Vision Zero.

Learn the unique problems, and some local activists’ hopeful solutions, to one of Brooklyn’s most dangerous streets. Transportation Alternatives’ Brooklyn Activist Committee is hosting this educational walking tour of Atlantic Avenue. Along the route of this group walk, you’ll learn how many Brooklyn communities rely on Atlantic Avenue, and the story of local activists’ fight to change it. Your presence will be a critical show of support for the campaign to rebuild this central thoroughfare.

Wear walking shoes and comfortable clothes. This two and a half mile walk will keep a leisurely pace. Everyone is welcome, but you need to RSVP to attend.
