North Flatbush BID initiates streetscape project

The North Flatbush Business Improvement District has secured the expertise of a landscape architect/urban planner to come up with a plan to improve the flow and functionality of Flatbush from Atlantic to Plaza Streets. A preliminary meeting was held on April 22, 2009 during which the firm offered preliminary ideas on what was possible and what other cities had done when confronted by similar circumstances.

Eastern Parkway median reconstruction to be funded with stimulus

A list of transportation projects in New York City to be funded in whole or in part with funds from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act published by the Mayor's office includes the renovation of the Eastern Parkway median between Washington Avenue and Grand Army Plaza.

DOT plans safety improvements for Carlton Ave./Park Place intersection

As a result of study requested by PHNDC in conjunction with the North Flatbush BID, Brooklyn DOT is planning safety improvements to the intersection of Flatbush Avenue, Carlton Avenue, and Park Place. The intersection has long been perceived by area residents as dangerous for pedestrians.
