The New York State Empire State Development Corporation (ESDC) has announced a public hearing to take comments on the draft scope of work for a supplemental environmental impact statement (SEIS) for phase 2 of the Atlantic Yards project. The hearing will take place on Wednesday, February 27 from 5:00PM to 8:00PM at St. Francis College, Founders Hall, 182 Remsen Street, Brooklyn.

ESDC was ordered in July 2011 to complete the SEIS by a New York State Supreme Court which found that the agency illegally approved changes to the Atlantic Yards project in 2009. The 2009 changes extended the duration of construction of the project from ten years to twenty-five years. PHNDC was among the plaintiffs bringing suit against the agency.

The draft scope of work was released in December 2012, and is available from the ESDC's web site. It describes the framework and tasks to be performed under the SEIS.

Comments on the draft scope of work may be presented by members of the public or any interested party at the public scoping meeting or submitted in writing to: Empire State Development (Attn: Atlantic Yards), 633 Third Avenue, 37th floor, New York, NY 10017, atlanticyards@esd.ny.gov. Written comments will be accepted until 5:00 P.M. on March 14, 2013.
