The Municipal Art Society has released images that for the first time show the results of expected delays in the construction of the Atlantic Yards project. The images, available at atlanticlots.com, show the current site, the buildings originally proposed, and what is currently scheduled for construction, from both western and eastern (as shown in the image above) perspectives. In place of the residential and commercial buildings described in the Atlantic Yards environmental impact statement, the eastern phase 2 site is mostly consumed by parking lots.
Although there is no date yet confirmed for the start of construction of phase 2, and only the arena and one residential building of the phase 1 components are scheduled, Forest City Ratner is moving ahead with demolition across the entire site. The Atlantic Yards Camera Club has set up a camera to monitor the destruction of the Ward Bakery building, which the EIS found to be eligible for historic designation.
