The NYPD's 77th Precinct includes Prospect Heights east of Vanderbilt Avenue. The 77th Precinct Community Council monthly meeting is an opportunity for community members to hear from the senior command at the Precinct. Audience members may also ask questions and raise concerns on safety and security issues in the neighborhood.

The March Precinct Council meeting will take place at St. Joseph's Church on Pacific Street between Vanderbilt and Underhill Avenues. Before the meeting, from 6:30PM to 7:30PM, Pastor Ken's Jazz and Blues Band will perform a free set with standards from the songbooks of Nat King Cole and others.

NYCDOT will be presenting a refined safety proposal for the intersection of Atlantic/Washington/Underhill avenues at a joint Community Board 2 and 8 Transportation Committee meeting on Tuesday, December 16th.

DOT previously proposed improvements to the intersection in 2011, but implementation was delayed due to water main construction at the location. A representative from DOT said that the agency's intention now is to complete construction of the Washington Avenue improvements in the spring of 2015.

Community Board 8 represents all of Prospect Heights. General meetings of the Community Board provide an opportunity for community members to become informed as to issues related to land use, transportation, safety and security, economic development and other topics that affect the neighborhood. Precinct Community Council meetings provide an opportunity for residents to hear from commanding officers responsible for policing their neighborhoods, and to receive responses to their questions.
